Eclectic doom metal powerhouse AITTALA is unveiling the first single “Myself Deceived” off their highly anticipated album “Machines”, set to drop on April 17, 2025, via Exitus Strategem Records.
Listen at the following links:
The songs on “Machines” were originally written and demoed between 1990 and 1997 on an analog 4-track cassette recorder. Now, Aittala has revived these tracks, preserving their raw essence while enhancing them with modern production techniques. The album offers a nostalgic yet powerful experience, blending early progressive metal influences with storytelling-driven lyrics. While showcasing a distinct style from their recent works, “Machines” stays true to Aittala’ssignature heavy, immersive sound.
Formed in 1991 in Holland, Aittala quickly gained recognition in the Dutch metal scene, opening for bands like THE GATHERING and SADIST. After a hiatus, frontman Eric Aittala resurrected the band in 2008, leading to six full-length albums: Bed of Thorns (2009), Haunt Your Flesh (2011), Effigy (2014), American Nightmare (2016), False Pretenses (2019), Live to Regret (2022).
Now, with “Machines,” AITTALA boldly steps into the past, bringing long-lost tracks to life with a modern, crushing edge.
This dynamic duo of Eric Aittala (Guitars/Vocals) and Gary ‘Zeus’ Smith (Drums) (THE FIFTH, ex-MR BLACKWELL) continues to write, record, and tour, bringing their distinct brand of heavy, immersive metal to fans worldwide.
“Aittala Offer Powerful Pandemic Post-Mortem on ‘Live to Regret’… Stick it on a playlist with Apostle of Solitude, Crowbar, Famyne, and Paradise Lost, with a dash of Slayer for good measure.” – Doomed and Stoned “One of the best albums for 2022” – 666MrDoom YouYube Channel
“This platter is heavy melodic ear candy that drips with deep and mesmeric face-melting tones and grinding rhythms.” (Live to Regret) – The Metal Gods Meltdown
“The band’s sound is difficult to pigeonhole because they incorporate a variety of styles. The common element in all the songs is the potent groove. On tracks like “Black Coffin” and “Afterthought” stoner/doom is at the forefront, while songs such as “Disowned” have a more traditional metal vibe. There are progressive influences on “How Much Longer,” while the closer “Debt” is a piano based ballad. Even with so many disparate styles, Aittala bring everything together into a cohesive whole.” – Heavy Music Headquarters
“I would describe them as an eclectic Doom Metal band, although their sound is a bit tough to define. That’s ultimately a good thing though, and I enjoy the refreshment of something different. My only major complaint is that on some songs, the vocals and lyrics are so drawn out that they become a little boring and you end up waiting a bit for something cool to happen. The good news is something cool usually does end up happening” – Metal-Temple
“In the metal world, bands can start to sound the same and Aittala steps outside of the box. With clear crisp vocals, grinding rhythms and well executed leads, this band is definitely in a league of their own.” – The Metal Channel
Australian-Swedish death metal juggernaut D.E.A.D has dropped the official music video for “Dead”, a track ripped straight from their ferocious album Of Vile and Hate, out now via Wormholedeath.
“Dead” is a savage death metal onslaught, dragging a tormented soul from decay into cursed rebirth. It reflects transformation through suffering, where pain breeds power and the past is left in ruin.Brutal, raw, and merciless—D.E.A.D delivers pure death metal carnage.
Watch “Dead” now:
Forged in the darkness of the 2020 pandemic, D.E.A.D is a brutal death metal duo delivering unrelenting sonic destruction. Formed by Niels (Sweden) and Adam (Australia), two kindred spirits with a shared vision of extreme metal chaos, the band thrives on delivering raw, uncompromising death metal straight from the depths of isolation. No frills. No compromise. Just pure, unfiltered death metal fury.
Following their acclaimed recent single, “To Live Deliciously”, and its exquisitely twisted music video, GRAMMY Award-nominated extreme metal institution CRADLE OF FILTH are back to give fans more of the sinful sounds they crave with “White Hellebore”, another bewitching new single and music video.
Featured on the band’s highly-anticipated upcoming 14th studio album, The Screaming Of The Valkyries (March 21, 2025 / Napalm Records), “White Hellebore” is devilishly direct, juxtaposing traditional heavy metal with blasts of thrashing fury, then spinning back to operatic goth while remaining cohesive. The track’s must-see new music video was directed by Shaun Hodson.
CRADLE OF FILTH mastermind Dani Filthsays about the song and video: “The wintertime flower of the title reminds us scintillatingly of our own mortality, flourishing in seasons of dying light and cold, frozen earth.
Blossoming in the shadows, this Hellebore’s flowers draw us deeply into the stygian darkness with her.
In context of this song, the White Hellebore of the title is an alluring woman not too distant in danger from the predatory black widow, fostering both hope and despair; A poison and an elixir, she is stunning to behold but ever deadly to taste.
This video -reeking of Lovecraftian gothic horror- presents the White Hellebore as a movie starlet who survives the grave through her dalliances with dark occult forces, a necromantic mystic tryst that an overzealous morgue attendant encounters with terrifying results, complimenting the song’s unholy matrimony of melody and mayhem.”
Following the release of 2021’s Existence Is Futile (#20 Billboard 200 with Hard Rock Genre), CRADLE OF FILTH emerge again with a legacy-cementing opus. On The Screaming Of The Valkyries, Dani Filth’s recognizable scream and equally identifiable growl stand mightily alongside twin guitar attacks, symphonic flourishes and explosive rhythm section, implemented by drummer Martin “Marthus” Skaroupka, bassist Daniel Firth, guitarists Marek “Ashok” Smerda and Donny Burbage, and keyboardist/vocalist Zoe Federoff.
Menacing album opener “To Live Deliciously” hits immediately with rhythmic urgency, built around a Libertine lyrical hook that twists and writhes with aggression, atmosphere, and melody, before “Demagoguery” blends dark beauty, blast beats and slaytanic groove as only Cradle can combine. Across the album’s blunt and unforgiving yet inviting expanse, Cradle summons the succulent flavors of classic albums like Dusk And Her Embrace and Cruelty And The Beast with the galloping (but no less fierce) thunder of recent entries Hammer Of The Witches and Existence Is Futile. Flashes of early metal influences coalesce with carnivorous glee into unapologetic death ‘n’ roll.Anchored by arguably the most mournful melody in their catalog, “Non Omnis Moriar” (“I shall not wholly die”) could be a cousin to Paradise Lost or Anathema, inverted through Cradle’s thorny prism. “You Are My Nautilus” is the darkest song Iron Maiden never wrote, spinning an epic tale with dueling guitars, while “Ex Sanguine Draculae” conjures Dusk-era atmosphere with imaginative new colors.
Produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by Scott Atkins at Grindstone Studios in Suffolk, England, The Screaming of the Valkyries beckons the brave into a new era of CRADLE OF FILTH misadventure, celebrating massive melancholic melody, blackened thrash, and apocalyptic existential dread with a grinning smattering of unbridled revelry. The Screaming of the Valkyries is a bloody dark love letter to the longtime legion of CRADLE OF FILTH faithful and a stunning entryway for fresh lambs to the sonic slaughter.
“These guys just keep getting better.” – Heavy Consequence
“…an all-out ripper that‘ll fuel you for days to come” – Revolver on lead single “A Better World”
Modern thrash titans WARBRINGER are preparing to unleash their highly anticipated new album Wrath And Ruin, out this Friday, March 14, 2025 via Napalm Records. Today, they unlock the tomb containing their ghoulish third single “Through A Glass, Darkly”, emerging alongside a shell-shocked official music video.
The mini epic “Through A Glass, Darkly”, was inspired by a poem from WWII general George Patton, insisting that he was the reincarnation of an eternal warrior spirit who has fought and died on countless battlefields throughout history. Conjuring the undead with gothic guitar stylings, and mid-paced, brooding tension, WARBRINGER crafts an atmosphere so tangible, you‘ll be coughing from the dust off the crypt.
About the single, frontman John Kevill says: “Here’s the third single from Wrath and Ruin, the epic ’Through a Glass, Darkly.‘ We chose this one as a single to showcase the range and breadth of this album, offering something totally different from the first two singles here. This one has an epic and dark, mystical quality to it, as well as a real fist-raising energy. The song is about an eternally reincarnating warrior, who recounts his struggles and pains across the battlefields of time. This is based on a poem by the WW2 general George Patton, and apparently the man truly believed himself to be the reincarnation of this eternal warrior.
“To me, this idea had a lot of power and resonance, and works as a powerful metaphor for the ongoing human struggle we all face. I also thought his poem had some really great lines, some of which are incorporated here. The track, penned by Carlos Cruz, was an attempt to get the epic feel we had on songs like ’Defiance of Fate‘ and ’When the Guns Fell Silent‘ into a shorter runtime package, a ’pocket epic‘ if you will. I particularly love the soulful solo by Adam Carroll here, and I think the end passage is one of the finest vocal moments on the record. Here’s a song to look at the sky to and stoically contemplate time and legacy… we hope you all enjoy ’Through a Glass, Darkly‘ and the rest of Wrath and Ruin.”
Wrath And Ruin‘s destructive opening duo of “The Sword And The Cross” and “A Better World” quickly kick the gates of cataclysm open with broodingly dark guitar work and virtuosic precision. Frontman John Kevill‘s passionate proclamations are as potent as ever, mocking those who scoffed at clear harbingers of societal collapse with their misguided optimism. “Neuromancer” rides low and steady with blast master Carlos Cruz putting some serious stank on an irresistible battle vest fist pumper. “The Jackhammer” sees the band explode into a frenzy with chaotic riffage and ear splitting pinch dives. “Through A Glass, Darkly” indulges in deliciously gothic chord work and melodic leads embellishing Kevill‘s already hellish vocal fry. “Strike From The Sky” is trademark thrash excellence quickly followed by the atmospheric, true cult epic “Cage Of Air,” with its tensely ornate dueling guitars on full display. Album closer “The Last Of My Kind” continues this dark gothic path with syncopated octave runs dancing around tightly dueling melodeath riffage. Wrath And Ruin sees WARBRINGER indulging in the darker elements of their sound, for an uncompromising and unflinching exploration of life‘s most bitter pills.
WARBRINGER also recently announced a North American co-headline tour with death metal stalwarts Allegaeon, as well as a European Tour supporting Decapitated and Cryptopsy, in addition to select festival appearances and German dates supporting Kreator.

While CEMETERY SKYLINE are getting ready to embark on their first tour they are releasing their black velvety cover version of “I Drove All Night”, a brand new song that was not part of their acclaimed debut album “Nordic Gothic”.
“We were in the middle of writing the songs for ’Nordic Gothic‘ and the tracks were flying back and forth over the Baltic Sea when Markus suddenly came up with the idea to record a cover version of the 80s classic ’I Drove All Night‘”, says Santeri Kallio (keyboards). “Some may consider it as a Roy Orbison hit, but back in high school I used to bang my head to the wall with Cindy Lauper‘s original version. So as an old fan of the song – I just could not resist the idea. The rest of the band soon joined the excitement to give this classic a new and darker crust. I also like to think that Markus‘ passion for vintage cars had something to do with the idea to cover a song which is all about manically driving in darkness the whole night. We basically changed the song‘s Cadillac to a hearse and all was set.”
Watch the video, that is literally featuring a hearse and that was directed by Brendan McGowan,
“American Death” is the latest single from progressive death metal progenitors RIVERS OF NIHIL. The ferocious new track — a true-to-form beater that‘s sure to slay live — comes by way of the band‘s eponymous fifth full-length, set for release on May 30th via Metal Blade Records.
Watch it HERE:
Comments founding guitarist Brody Uttley. “’American Death‘ is a title that we‘ve been throwing around and printing on our T-shirts since 2013. We figured it was finally time to write a song with that title, and given the subject matter of the lyrics, it would only make sense for this song to be a true ass beater. It‘s definitely the most true form ’heavy‘ song of these singles, so we are very much looking forward to playing it live.”
Sixteen years and five albums into the Pennsylvania band‘s career, RIVERS OF NIHIL is upping the ante with Rivers Of Nihil. Traditionally, a self-titled record can signal a return to basics and/or a fresh beginning, and in ten powerful songs, it‘s clear that both those factors are in play. Founding bassist Adam Biggs became the band‘s new lead vocalist/bassist in 2023; the same year marked the appearance of additional guitarist Andy Thomas (ex-Black Crown Initiate), whose vocals also play prominently on Rivers Of Nihil. Producers Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland at Atrium Audio captured the new dynamics across more than fifty minutes of music. On June 15th, 2023, the band released the single, “The Sub-Orbital Blues,” the first track with Biggs handling lead vocals following the 2022 departure of singer Jake Dieffenbach. It was also the first track to feature Thomas. A second single, “Hellbirds,” dropped on October 19th of that year. On April 29th, 2024, the band released the cut “Criminals” and an accompanying music video. Both “Criminals” and “The Sub-Orbital Blues” appear on Rivers Of Nihil.
Rivers Of Nihil was created in a very “rock n‘ roll” manner. “On 2021‘s The Work, I wrote a lot of the record on the piano and then the band filled in the gaps,” explains Uttley. “On this new record, I wanted to make sure that this stuff would hit hard live with just the four of us before adding in all of the sparkly auxiliary ’frosting‘ on top.”.
Rivers Of Nihil also showcases additional musicians, including Patrick Corona on alto saxophone, Stephan Lopez on banjo, McFarland on cello, and a slate of other guest vocalists. Despite the fresh approach on Rivers Of Nihil however, the album still fits neatly into the band‘s discography. With Where Owls Know My Name (2018), RIVERS OF NIHIL transcended all labels applied to them, and with its 2021 follow-up, The Work, they forged further into new territory with Metal Injection calling the latter album “the group‘s most cohesive, ambitious, meditative, and varied effort, with greater uses of philosophical significance and transcendental respites.” Writes Revolver in an early preview of the record, “…their forthcoming self-titled album… specializes in metronome-exploding kick work, riffs brawnier than a full-grown Kodiak, and a vocal tandem of soaring highs (guitarist Andy Thomas) and demonic lows (bassist Adam Biggs).”
The Wave and the Particle proudly present the lyric video for “The Other”, a powerful track from their album Electric Sheep, out now via Wormholedeath.
“The Other” began as a nod to The Birthday Massacre but evolved into something uniquely its own. The lyrics explore humanity’s tendency to seek reflections of itself in others, whether in people, cultures, or even alien worlds. Inspired by Stanislaw Lem’s observation that “We do not need other worlds. We need mirrors,” the song questions our ability to truly embrace difference. Musically, it balances introspection and intensity, mirroring the push and pull between connection and projection.
Watch the video now:
The Wave and the Particle, based in Fremont, CA, fuses post-industrial rock, symphonic metal, and progressive rock into a powerful, unique sound. Formed in 2015 by Vasiliy and Katie, the band started as an experiment to blend dark industrial beats with soaring symphonic vocals. In 2016, guitarist Chandra joined, adding intricate solos that enriched their sound, culminating in their debut album, “Event Horizon,” released in 2019.
Despite challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, the lineup solidified in 2021 with the addition of drummer Abhiram and bassist Alessandro. Over the next two years, they refined their sound and experimented with new song structures.
As 2023 approached, the band began work on their second album, “Electric Sheep,” inspired by cyberpunk themes that explore technologies, transhumanism, globalization, and digital identity. Committed to pushing musical boundaries, The Wave and the Particle crafts music that resonates on multiple levels.
Polish progressive metal quintet Wind Down has inked a licensing deal with Wormholedeath Records for their highly anticipated album, The Burning Past, slated for release on April 18, 2025.
A Rising Force in Progressive Groove Metal
Formed in 2021 by Damian “Blady” Jurek and Wojciech “Świerszcz” Wojtyczek, founding members of Thetragon, Wind Down quickly grew into a formidable unit with the additions of Kuba Czubik, Władysław Zawojski, and Marcin Borula. The band’s journey began with the release of their debut EP, Uśpieni Ludzie (Euthanised People), which garnered widespread praise, thanks to its title track and accompanying music video.Building on the momentum, Wind Down toured extensively, sharing stages with international metal heavyweights like Necronomicon (Germany), Stonecast (France), and 3000AD (New Zealand), alongside prominent Polish acts such as Iscariota, Styxx, and Subterfuge. In 2023, the lineup evolved, bringing in Franciszek Trybus and Tomasz Wiśniewski (formerly of Thetragon and Kruk) to solidify their sound. By April 2024, the band began recording their debut full-length album at Hertz Studio, with the final touches—mixing and mastering—handled by Ergosphere Studios.
The Concept Behind The Burning Past
More than just an album, The Burning Past is a profound concept piece inspired by Native American Indian culture, shamanic rituals, and the cosmic connection between human souls and extraterrestrial energy. The record is a transformative journey that blends introspection with a broader, spiritual narrative, delivered through intricate melodies and evocative lyrics.Wind Down’s approach is steeped in authenticity, drawing inspiration from luminaries like Nevermore, Alter Bridge, and Dream Theater while carving out a unique identity in the Progressive Groove Metal genre. The album’s fusion of technical precision, melodic harmonies, and thunderous riffs creates a sound that is as innovative as it is powerful.
Live and Ready to Ignite Wind Down’s dynamic live performances continue to captivate audiences, including notable appearances alongside Slovak band Gloom and at events such as the Wrath of Gods Vol. 5 Mini Fest (2023) and the Rock Pod Kameňom festival in Slovakia (2024), where they shared the stage with acts like Trauma, Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons, HammerFall, and Eleine.
With the release of The Burning Past, Wind Down is set to solidify its reputation as a fresh and groundbreaking force in the progressive metal scene.
A work, a transformation, a re-entry into the melancholic self – OPVS NOIR is in no danger of becoming an offspring of understatement, neither in its title nor in its musical opulence. And rightly so: Not only will it be the first album as a six-piece band, but it also marks the beginning of an entire album trilogy, set to be released in multiple editions, including, of course, strictly limited collector’s items.
Each volume contains 11 songs, totaling 33 tracks that not only conclude the delightfully eccentric chapter of Blood & Glitter, but also initiate an uncompromising return to the dark core of the band. While LORD OF THE LOST previously found themselves in the spotlight of vast open stages, OPVS NOIR Vol. 1, set for release on August 8, 2025 via Napalm Records, represents a confident descent into previously untouched emotional depths.
Chris Harms about the album: “Darkness, melancholy, loneliness – all words that often have negative connotations, that we may associate with danger, sadness and loss, and not without reason. But darkness can also be security, melancholy the warm and sentimental feeling of our memories, and loneliness becomes necessary silence, peace and inner contemplation. OPVS NOIR is a travel guide, or perhaps also a travelogue, through the dark sides of our inner world, which so often move precisely in the area of tension between what we emotionally categorize as positive or negative. And with Vol. 1, all of this is just the beginning of this 3-part journey…”
OPVS NOIR is not only a musically exciting step but also a bold one! This becomes clear when looking at LORD OF THE LOST‘s immediate past: support for IRON MAIDEN on two European tours, followed by their first North American shows in over a decade, sold-out headlining tours, participation in the final of the EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2023, a #1 chart entry with the previous album Blood & Glitter, celebrated performances at the biggest festivals worldwide – they even had the honour of meeting King Charles in person. Hand on heart: How easy would it have been to keep riding this wave of success just a little longer? But that’s not how LORD OF THE LOST operates – the only constant remains change.
But what is the essence of LORD OF THE LOST in 2025? That is one of the questions OPVS NOIR Vol. 1 fearlessly begins to answer. Once again, the band proves not only musical excellence but also masterful craftsmanship: Produced by Chris Harms, recorded, mixed, and mastered at the legendary CHAMELEON STUDIOS in Hamburg, the 11 tracks hit with a force and brilliance that immediately transport us into a dark yet colourful ballroom. From there, the tone is set: Dark Wave Metal on an amphitheater scale.
Everything is new, yet every note feels familiar. Behind each chorus awaits a surprise, in every line, a new door opens to further uncharted paths within the LOTL universe. This band takes the expectations of its ever-growing fanbase and molds them into songs that transcend genre boundaries – and turn moments into monuments that carry us all along: No one lost behind!
Synth-Based Black Metal artist Morningstvr (Sam Tchortov) has announced his highly anticipated new album “A Fate Engraved”, scheduled for release on June 20, 2025. The announcement comes alongside a haunting album trailer that offers listeners a glimpse into the frozen medieval landscapes that characterize this ambitious project. Tchortov comments on what lies within:
“A Fate Engraved” is an epic collection of tales continued from its predecessor in the trinity, “In Memoriam of the Blvck Wind” and tells of a land far to the north of the world, with cold and abysmal ranges covered in snow, ancient structures of an empire from a forgotten age, much like in the image of the medieval period, continuing the tales of Slavic witchcraft, knights charging their last battles, betrayal, heartbreak and rituals upon a full moon.”
“A Fate Engraved” marks the second installment in what Morningstvr calls his “Unholy Trinity”, which draws deep inspiration from the medieval period, ancient kingdoms, and Tolkien’s legendarium, the album promises to transport listeners to ‘a vast medieval land in the dead of winter’ where tales of witches, knights, and forgotten kingdoms unfold against a backdrop of blistering synth-based black metal.
Tchortov describes the project as ‘a culmination of everything needed for a trilogy raised from a cold, damp, esoteric story’ and ‘nothing short of a collection of a puzzle that will transport you into the frozen hell’. With twelve tracks spanning over 44 minutes, “A Fate Engraved” showcases Morningstvr‘s continued evolution within the Synth-based black metal subgenre. It is recommended for fans of Darkthrone, Xasthur, and Hekseblad.
