Biography:

UNDECAYED was formed in August 2008 by Tony Richter (vocals) and Mikael Bergman (guitars) as a result of lineup issues in their respective bands, 9th Plague and Disromance. The two had played together in several bands throughout the ’90s and early 2000s, most notably Gardens of Obscurity and The Darksend. Initially, Richter and Bergman were joined by Disromance drummer Johnny Augustsson. Bassist Christoffer Svensson joined in 2009, and in 2014, drummer Jesper Leidbring replaced Augustsson.

The idea that every song should include the word “death” in its title emerged in 2010, both to emphasize that this was true DEATH metal and because such a concept had never been done before. The demo “The Triumph of Death” was recorded in late 2010 and released in January 2011. It was then decided that no further demos would be released before the debut album.

Over the years, family matters, work commitments, health issues, the loss of two rehearsal spaces, and lineup changes all contributed to periods of forced inactivity and delays. It wasn’t until the Covid-19 pandemic that the band was finally able to complete their album “In Death’s Image”.

Brutal Death OPHIOLATRY Release Harrowing Video Clip For New Single “Death Tour” Off New Album “Serpent’s Verdict” Out June 2025 (WormHoleDeath Records)

Brazilian extreme metal outfit Ophiolatry has released a new music video, “Death Tour”, the first single from their upcoming album “Serpent’s Verdict”, due June 6, 2025, via Wormholedeath Records. This latest visual offering is inspired by Greek mythology, depicting the journey of a fallen warrior’s soul through the realm of death. As the spirit is carried across the River Styx, it approaches the gates of Hades, where the warrior’s tribe awaits his arrival, welcoming him into the afterlife. They comment further on the single and the video:

“The warrior perished, part of his body bathed in the blood of the unworthy. He doesn’t beg. He doesn’t hesitate. The ancestors whisper his name as his spirit ascends, enveloped in the smoke of rituals. The witches dance around the burning fire, invoking Charon’s presence. The coins reflect in his lifeless eyes, an offering to the boatman. From the depths of Lake Styx. The serpent rises, its coils moving like time itself. As he breathes, the warrior’s confusion dissolves into clarity. He steps onto the distant shore, where his tribe awaits him in reverent silence. There are no words; They are not necessary. They were already waiting to cross the gates of Hades together; The end is just
the beginning.”

“Death Tour” represents a sonic evolution for Ophiolatry, balancing their technical prowess with a more atmospheric, tribally influenced approach to extreme metal. The video clip amplifies these themes through striking imagery that merges Greek Mythology with the brutality of modern death metal aesthetics.

Each track on “Serpent’s Verdict” functions as part of an immersive narrative experience. It is an invocation of the past and a battle cry for the future. With the release of “Death Tour,” Ophiolatry continues to build anticipation for the full album, which promises to be one of the most devastating extreme metal releases of 2025. It is recommended for fans of Cryptopsy, Suffocation, and Death.

LIK Unleashes “Deceased” Video

Swedish death metallers, LIK, today unleash their new video for “Deceased.” The track comes off their brilliantly brutal Necro full-length, released on April 18th via Metal Blade Records.

Within Necro‘s ten tracks, LIK – whose name translates to “corpse” in Swedish – has created a seamless album, diverse in tempo but without losing any of their blood-soaked intensity and relentless in-your-face-attitude listeners have come to expect. There are twists and turns that keep LIK on a progressive path without straying from their old-school trademark sounds inspired by the godfathers Dismember, At The Gates and, of course, Entombed.

Necro is the musical equivalent of a classic shock-horror movie that‘s drenched in blood and gore and packed with over-the-top extremities. Delve beyond the zombified cover art created by Stockholm-based tattooist and artist Jens Olsson (Ink Fanatics), LIK‘s Necro serves as a reminder of just how special and exciting the genre is: packed with blood-curdling fantasy stories about war, death, zombies, world apocalypse, and murder all stacked with disgustingly rotten riffs.

Lauds Metal Hammer Germany of the release, “…LIK tells us blood-soaked, imaginative stories peppered with everything good death metal needs: zombies, necrophilia, murder, death, war, and dystopian end-time scenarios that culminate in total decay. Necro sounds classic yet contemporary. Not dusty, rotten, or mothballed, but fresh, spicy, and deadly precise. Swedish death metal as it couldn’t be more Swedish.” Dead Rhetoric champions the band‘s “finest album to date,” adding, “It‘s utterly abrasive, yet it never blurs together due to the way they can weave in melodies in just the right proportions. Necro is an absolute winner for anyone seeking death metal done right,” while Metal Temple crowns Necro “the Swedish death metal album of the year,” further noting, “It captures the spirit of the genre with flawless execution, proving that LIK stands at the top of the modern scene.”

Comments vocalist/guitarist Tomas Åkvik on “Deceased,” “This is the opening track of the album and it’s a total Entombed homage. It has everything from mid-tempo to skank beats. Lyric-wise, it‘s about a guy who tries to come back from the dead to avenge his death. “

Watch LIK‘s “Deceased” video HERE:

Necro was recorded at NBS Studio (AKA Necromorbus Studio) in Söderfors, two hours from the band‘s home city. Once again using uber-producer Lawrence Mackrory (Meshuggah, Katatonia, High Parasite, Decapitated), all music was recorded live over a three-day period, before Åkvik headed to Uppsala to record his vocals at Mackrory‘s Rorysound Studios. Mackrory has worked with LIK since their 2015 debut Mass Funeral Evocation and throughout their Metal Blade Records‘ career that started with 2018‘s Carnage. It‘s clear upon first listen that with Necro, the quartet have produced some of the best work of their decade-plus long career.
Necro features guest appearances by Linnea Landstedt (Tyranex, Ice Age), Nick Holmes (Paradise Lost, Bloodbath), and Lawrence Mackrory (F.K.Ü.).

Deathgoat unleash Dragged Into Realms Below – death metal supreme on Xtreem Music!

Emerging from the fetid depths of the Finnish underground in 2015, Deathgoat’s first scream against the light came in the form of the Rotten Salvation demo in 2018. However, it was with their full length debut album, 2021s Regurgitated Into Existence, that the full power and potential of this gathering of devils became apparent – their mastery of old school death metal was unquestionable. Now, at long last, the Finns have returned with a new album that utterly epitomises everything that their chosen genre represents. This is the absolute essence of death metal, pure rot and decay, this is Dragged Into Realms Below!

The chilling notes of intro ‘Alkulima’ sink their claws into your flesh and tear you from your safe, secure existence, casting you into the cold earth of the midnight cemetery. Before you can orientate yourself ‘Pestilent Retribution’ is upon you, a rampaging assault of Scandinavian death metal that severs every tendon and shatters every bone. Devastating heaviness and machine gun intensity rage beneath twisting occult solos, while a voice from the pit intones the many ways in which to die. There is not a song on this magnificent collection that fails to deliver skin crawling atmosphere and utterly addictive, snarling riffs and rhythms. From the imperious chainsaw slaughter of ‘Monoxide’ to the magnificent conclusion of ‘Dragged Into Realms Below’ itself – a track that dominates and towers over your broken body like a king amongst the tombstones – this is an album you will not soon forget.

Dragged Into Realms Below will be released by Xtreem Music, champions of old school death metal, on June 10th and it will be essential listening for anyone dedicated to the music of the grave. With a sound carved from dry bone and putrefaction and a cover created by Bram Bruyneel (Officium TristeHideous Divinity etc) that invokes ancient ceremony and inherited nightmares, Deathgoat have delivered a work of immaculate decomposition.

ALLEGAEON To Release The Ossuary Lens Full-Length

Technical death metal outfit ALLEGAEON will unleash their new full-length, The Ossuary Lens, on April 4th on Metal Blade Records, today unveiling the record‘s first single, “Driftwood.”

For ALLEGAEON, sitting still is not an option. The Fort Collins, Colorado-based  group has never allowed itself to stagnate, prefering to thrive on chaos, change and evolution. Their latest offering, The Ossuary Lens, is their seventh full-length overall but  it‘s the first with original vocalist Ezra Haynes since his 2015 departure following the Elements Of The Infinite album. Replacing a singer is no easy task, so the fact that Haynes was in a place to rejoin is something to celebrate.

The cleaner vocal approach on the last three albums was a fascinating artistic maneuver, one that refreshed ALLEGAEON, but it‘s undeniably thrilling to hear Haynes‘ graveled larynx back in the fold on this inarguably brutal and technically dazzling slab of work. The science-based lyrics are as challenging as the progressive musicianship, resulting in a set of songs that simply slay. It‘s a sound that Haynes himself refers to as “melotech” (melodic, technical death metal).
“I think in the beginning we were a little more stripped down,” adds guitarist Greg Burgess, “very guitar-forward, focused melodeath. Over time, I think more technical, symphonic, and progressive elements creeped in. Finally, where we are today is all of that combined, added with more ambient elements.”

The Ossuary Lens was recorded with producer Dave Otero at Flatline Audio studio in Denver. It marks the sixth album recorded with Otero. “He‘s our guy and we couldn’t imagine working with anyone else at the moment,” says Haynes. “We have worked with Dave Otero at Flatline Audio since the beginning of our career,” adds Burgess. “So seventeen years now. Dave always provides a comfortable working environment, amazing ideas, and a career-spanning understanding of what has made ALLEGAEON, ALLEGAEON.”

The proof is in the pudding; the sound on The Ossuary Lens pummels the listener, though the ferocity is balanced by the overt melodies. It‘s the most triumphant and cohesive body of work that they‘ve ever laid down.

Lyrically, while not a concept album in the traditional sense, there‘s an overarching theme to the new album – The Ossuary Lens is a representation of several different viewpoints of death. “Each song essentially is a different topic, however there is always a different perspective of death tied to each subject,” says Haynes. “Since the entire album revolves around this overarching theme of death, and the different viewpoints associated with it, we found ourselves very attached to the word ’Ossuary,‘ and since the album takes look at death through different points of view, we found The Ossuary Lens to be very fitting for the album title.”

Of the album‘s first single, “Driftwood,” Burgess elaborates, “This song holds a special place in ALLEGAEON history, honestly. This piece was written for Apoptosis by our then-brand new bassist Booboo. In its original form, it was so tech death, I don‘t think we knew how to incorporate it into the ALLEGAEON sound when he submitted it. Fast forward six years and, as we were kicking around ideas for this album, I remembered the piece, and asked Booboo if he wouldn’t mind if I took a crack at possibly rearranging its format a little smoother into the ALLEGAEON sound. I just wanted there to be a little bit more repetition of some parts. The song turned out amazing. Always goes to show – never throw out anything as you never know when it’ll come back.”
