THE DEAD DAISIES BLAZE A NEW TRAIL WITH “CROSSROADS”

The Dead Daisies are thrilled to announce the release of “Crossroads” today, the first single from their upcoming album Lookin’ For Trouble, via Fame/Malaco Records. The song, immortalized by Delta blues pioneer Robert Johnson, has been reimagined with the band’s signature firepower, delivering a high-energy, soul-drenched performance that bridges past and present.

Few songs in American music carry as much myth and mystique as “Crossroads.” Johnson’s 1936 original – recorded in a single take – gave rise to one of blues’ most enduring stories in that he met the devil at a Mississippi crossroads and exchanged his soul for unearthly guitar prowess. Whether fact or folklore, “Crossroads” became the foundation of modern blues, inspiring generations of musicians. Now, The Dead Daisies put their own stamp on the song channeling its raw emotion with blistering guitars, driving rhythms and an impassioned vocal performance.

“When I first heard the Blues, it was through the music of bands like Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones,” says vocalist John Corabi. “The deeper I researched the music of my heroes the deeper I got into the history or origins. The Blues in my opinion has influenced EVERY genre of music we listen to, with the exception of classical. I would refer to it as ‘The Soul’ of music and I hope you love our interpretation of this song as much as we loved playing it.”

“Crossroads”, by Delta bluesman Robert Johnson has created a myth so large that it’s been etched into the very foundation of rock n roll lore,” adds bassist Michael Devin. “They say Johnson gave up his soul in exchange for his musical genius. Many bands have covered ‘Crossroads’ over the years, now we’ve covered it in our own way.”

Lookin’ For Trouble, The Dead Daisies’ first full-length blues album, was imagined in March 2024 during sessions for their upcoming rock album, Light ‘Em Up. After recording at Sienna Studios in Nashville, the band moved to Muscle Shoals, Alabama, to complete the album at the iconic FAME Studios. The famous sign above the entryway reads: “Through these doors walk the finest Musicians, Songwriters, Artists, and Producers in the World.”  This is as true today as it was in 1961.  Since it first opened its doors, FAME has welcomed a literal who’s who of music royalty with legends like Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, and Etta James recording their classic hits there.  Stepping into the same space the band – John Corabi, David Lowy, Doug Aldrich, Michael Devin, and drummer Sarah Tomek found themselves drawn into the deep musical legacy of the blues. After their rock sessions wrapped each night, they started jamming on blues classics for fun. Producer Marti Frederiksen quickly recognised the magic happening and pressed record. What started as impromptu late-night sessions evolved into Lookin’ For Trouble, an album that crackles with the raw energy and rebellious spirit that made blues the foundation of rock ‘n’ roll.

“The blues had many names back in the day, and they all had unwarranted negative connotations,” says Corabi. The title Lookin’ For Trouble nods to this history – an era when blues was called ‘the Devil’s Music,’ feared for its themes of rebellion, hardship, and sensuality.

For over a decade, The Dead Daisies have been captivating audiences with their soulful, blues infused ’70s rock.

The band will be hitting the road again in 2025 on their European March Tour and showcase a couple of blues songs from their upcoming album.  For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit https://thedeaddaisies.com/tour-2025/

BRAINSTORM Launch “Crawling” Lyric Video & Embark On ‘Plague Of Rats’ Release Co-Headline Tour

Long-serving German metallers BRAINSTORM are starting the celebrations of their long-awaited new album Plague Of Rats (Reigning Phoenix Music) early! Tonight, the quintet are playing the first out of eight co-headline release shows with label mates ARION but they have also launched a lyric video for “Crawling,” another track taken from their new record, which was highly praised by press throughout and will finally be unleashed tomorrow.

The song is based on strong synth leads entering one’s mind instantly – and there’s no chance to get rid of them anytime soon. Taken over by guitar duo Ihlenfeld/Loncaric, the melody settles even more, resulting in another new BRAINSTORM anthem while telling a critical story about expectations the society has from individuals and reminding fans of the importance of free speech.

“Another single on the album and perhaps the most melodic track on “Plague Of Rats.” ‘Crawling in’ and ‘crawling out’ suggest a feeling of being trapped and a desire for freedom. But what creeps in and where does it creep out? Having your own opinion has become very difficult in our world. In our society, we’re easily manipulated and lured with nice words to support or accept an opinion. For example, the line ‘I lured you with my sweet words’ is intended to clarify this somewhat. It’s good and important to represent completely contrary opinions sometimes. This is what today’s world has to endure. We don’t walk upright through a door but crawl through cracks to avoid attracting attention instead. If you don’t follow the instructions or – in this case – manipulation, you’re out. You fall off the grid and no longer belong. The message? Stand by yourself and your ideals…and don’t move like a skeleton or zombie,” states vocalist Andy B Franck.

Check out the lyric video:

BRAINSTORM remain a vital force in the metal scene, seamlessly blending traditional elements with modern influences in their latest work, Plague Of RatsDrawing inspiration from the rich and mystical narratives of ancient Indian civilization, this album delivers an energetic line-up of tracks devoid of slow songs or ballads, fully embodying the band’s dynamic and robust metal style. Expertly crafted with the collaboration of Sebastian “Seeb” Levermann (ORDEN OGAN, ANGUS McSIX) for mixing and mastering at Greenman Studios, and featuring striking artwork by Gyula Havancsák (DESTRUCTION, KREATOR, GRAVE DIGGER etc.) and photography by Alex Kühr, Plague Of Rats offers ten compelling new tracks that transport listeners to the captivating worlds of India and beyond.

In additional news, Shores of Null will be unraveling a live album for May 2025. Entitled “Beauty Over Europe”, the live record features 10 tracks that were recorded during their monumental 2023 European tour with Swallow The Sun, Draconian, and Avatarium. Throughout that tour, Shores of Null performed 35 shows across 18 countries, including Norway, Denmark, Germany, the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Switzerland, Netherlands, and Hungary, bringing their critically acclaimed album “The Loss Of Beauty” to the stage.

The live recordings, captured in the cities of Leipzig, Munich, Aschaffenburg, Budapest, and Belfast, preserve the raw and emotive energy of their performances. Each track reflects the band’s ability to blend melancholic melodies with crushing heaviness, offering fans a visceral live experience.

“Beauty Over Europe” is both a celebration of the tour and a gift to all fans of the band. Exactly two years after that unforgettable journey, this live album offers a chance to relive the emotional intensity and true essence of Shores Of Null’s live performances.

Guitarist Gabriele Giaccari comments:

“This tour was an incredible journey, the longest in our career, and a true milestone for Shores Of Null. As the promotional tour for The Loss Of Beauty, our latest and most acclaimed album to date, it was an honor to bring these songs to life across 35 shows in 18 countries. Sharing the stage with monumental bands like Swallow The Sun and Draconian—huge inspirations for our music—was unforgettable. Despite the melancholy of their sound, they’re some of the most fun and genuine people we’ve met, and by the end of this epic journey, we were proud to call them friends.

We owe special thanks to our incredible crew—Petri, Matti, Mikko, and Tero—who ensured everything ran seamlessly and made this experience unforgettable. To pay homage to this extraordinary chapter, we decided to produce a live album. Recorded during key moments of the tour, it captures the essence of these unforgettable performances and is dedicated to all the people who supported us live and shared these magical moments with us.”

Shores of Null stand out from their contemporaries with their ability to blend seemingly disparate elements into their sound, overwhelmingly heavy and soothing at the same time: blackened aggression stands alongside gothic-doom sections without either sounding out of place. Their music can be both melancholic yet majestic, made of chorale-like guitar textures across the instrument’s entire range, sustained by a powerful rhythmic section and punctuated by a refined mixture of clean and growled vocals, along with extensive use of pleasing vocal harmonies which have become the band’s trademark through the years.

The Rome-based metal band has been an unwavering presence within the metal underground since their musical outset in 2013, churning out a series of impressive records: the melodic and somber “Quiescence” (Candlelight, 2014), the darker and more complex “Black Drapes For Tomorrow” (Candlelight/Spinefarm, 2017), and the ambitious “Beyond The Shores (On Death And Dying)” (Spikerot Records, 2020), a 38-minute long doom manifesto that sees guest appearances of the doom-titans Mikko Kotamäki (Swallow The Sun) and Thomas A.G. Jensen (Saturnus), along with the angelic voice of Elisabetta Marchetti (Inno).

Shores Of Null’s fourth album, “The Loss Of Beauty”, released in March 2023, was hailed as one of the best albums of the year within the genre. The band supported the release with an extensive EU/UK tour alongside Swallow The Sun, Draconian, and Avatarium, followed by standout performances at major festivals like Hellfest, Rock Imperium, and 70000 Tons Of Metal among others, further solidifying their status as one of the rising forces in the metal scene.

Alt Metal/Dark Rock Discovery Nullor Presents Powerful Music Video for “Overdrive”

US dark metal project Nullor proudly presents the electrifying music video for “Overdrive,” a track taken from the band’s highly anticipated upcoming album, Finalform.Dive into the raw power of “Overdrive”, a relentless anthem that lays bare humanity’s reckless greed, environmental exploitation, and moral decay. With scathing precision, the track warns of our inevitable downfall while offering a glimmer of hope—nature’s resilience in the wake of humanity’s demise. The title, “Overdrive,” perfectly captures the breakneck, self-destructive speed at which we race toward oblivion. This is more than just a song; it’s a fierce battle cry against apathy, a wake-up call to confront our role in the chaos.
Experience the fury and urgency of “Overdrive”—check out the track and immerse yourself in its gripping video now:
video_preview_a399e3fb091f272525d09f8520f9bb97.jpg

Finalform is a visceral testament to Nullor’s musical evolution, born from the wreckage of previous bands and driven by a resolute DIY ethos. Conceived out of disappointment and rebirth, Finalform finds Nullor shedding the notion that one needs a full band to bring powerful, multi-dimensional music to life. “I’d always assumed you needed a whole functioning band to create music,” Nullor reflects. “A mentor once asked me why I didn’t just do it myself, and after years of excuses, it finally hit me: why not?”

Nullor’s sonic palette draws on a wide array of influences, blending the raw grit of Helmet, the rhythmic complexity of Meshuggah, the atmosphere of The Cure, and the intensity of Faith No More. The album is built around odd polyrhythmic structures laid over grooves that swing and grind, creating an immersive experience that’s as heavy as it is unexpected. “It sounds more educated than it is,” Nullor explains, “like pounding square blocks into round holes sideways.”

Finalform explores deeply personal themes through its lyrics, capturing both the haunting and the darkly humorous aspects of life’s highs and lows. It’s a chronicle of disaster, resilience, and creative defiance—an unfiltered look into the mind of an artist who has finally found his own voice.

The album is a milestone of my career, of course, thats why it was even more important to me to make the original songs shine in a new light without losing their initial essence. All guests have put their individual stamps on these classic tracks, and collaborating with such outstanding vocalists has moved them into a fresh and exciting dimension. The result is a powerful homage to all fans but also an invitation to the next generation to experience the songs not minorly passionate than I was when I recorded them back in the day. Its a never-ending personal journey for me – “Balls To The Wall” will always be a part of me,” states Udo.

THE LAST TEN SECONDS OF LIFE Joins Metal Blade Records Roster

Metal Blade Records is pleased to welcome Pennsylvania deathcore behemoths THE LAST TEN SECONDS OF LIFE to its esteemed roster.

THE LAST TEN SECONDS OF LIFE was forged in 2010. Within a year, they were touring regularly and had self-released their debut album, Know Your Exits. By 2013, independent metal label Density Records unleashed their second album, Invivo [Exvivo]. Further touring ensued with the likes of I Declare War, Fit For An Autopsy, Thy Art Is Murder, and Kublai Khan. The prolific act would go on to release five more full-lengths, each earning Billboard chart placements and reaping critical accolades both stateside and abroad. Of the band‘s most recent output, 2024‘s No Name Graves (Unique Leader Records), Knotfest wrote, “THE LAST TEN SECONDS OF LIFE are reasserting their position as innovators and leaders in the deathcore genre. Their approach to music is not just about creating sound but about crafting an experience that challenges and captivates their audience.” New Transcendence concurred, “With moments defined by a low, moody atmosphere carefully peppered with punishing aggression and moments that are outright raunchy, ruthless oblivion, No Name Graves is a cinematic, crushing experience that redefines THE LAST TEN SECONDS OF LIFE, making it clear that lightning can strike the same place (or same band) twice.” Added No Clean Singing, “At its gnarliest and nastiest – as epitomised by the likes of the brutish, bone-grinding title-track and the apocalyptically heavy ’Broken Glass Incantation‘ – there‘s a there‘s a primal intensity and potent, primitive nihilism to these tracks which recalls the likes of Black Tongue, latter-day Acranius, and even the more post-deathcore leaning approach of Humanity‘s Last Breath, but stripped down even further until only the barest and most unforgiving essentials remain.”

Comments the band on their signing, “We are beyond excited to announce that we have signed with the legendary Metal Blade Records. It is an honor to be on the same roster as such iconic acts past and present. Shout out to Ryan Williams and the rest of the Metal Blade team for giving us the opportunity to riff.”

Cryptosis – Launch new single/video “Static Horizon”

Dutch futuristic metallers Cryptosis have announced their return with a mighty, awe-inspiring sophomore album entitled “Celestial Death”, set for worldwide release on March 7th, 2025 via Century Media Records.

To further demonstrate the powerful and versatile material available on “Celestial Death”, a third single entitled “Static Horizon” is being made available today across digital platforms and can also be checked out in a video clip produced by the film production company F/53 (https://f-53.com/) here: https://youtu.be/7QJeq5o7HcU

Cryptosis checked in with the following comment about the track: “‘Static Horizon‘ is the 3rd single from our upcoming album ‘Celestial Death’, out March 7th through Century Media Records. The song combines black metal atmospheres and symphonic elements with fast prog metal guitar picking and melodic doomy grooves. The title represents a feeling of being trapped in a static, unchanging reality, where progress and hope seem distant. With its haunting melodies and intense riffing, the track delivers a powerful mix of raw energy and deep emotion.”The album‘s previous singles can also still be seen here:
“Faceless Matter”: https://youtu.be/cydvu7ScAmg
“Reign Of Infinite”: https://youtu.be/cq_9cXEr4b4

“Celestial Death” was recorded by Olaf Skoreng at Tom Meier and Studio Moon Music between April and August 2024, mixed by Fredrik Folkare at Chrome Studios (Unleashed, Necrophobic, Hellbutcher) in Sweden and finally mastered by Tony Lindgren at Fascination Studios (Arch Enemy, Borknagar, Amorphis) in Sweden too. The album is the follow-up to Cryptosis‘ acclaimed “Bionic Swarm” debut album (2021) and the EP “The Silent Call” (2023), it once more comes with artwork by Eliran Kantor (Kreator, Testament, My Dying Bride) and also showcases the group on a darker, heavier, more melodic and extremely cinematic journey across its 11 tracks / 42 minutes of playing time with the following track-listing:
