RIVERS OF NIHIL To Release Self-Titled Fifth Full-Length May 30th On Metal Blade Records

New Video/Single “House Of Light” Now Playing

“I feel like these songs are the perfect blend of all our albums, with all the fat cut away,” says founding guitarist Brody Uttley. “There are more technical songs that call back to The Conscious Seed Of Light and Monarchy sound, but with a more mature understanding of how to pace a song. There’s a fair bit of the Where Owls Know My Name and The Work-type experimental stuff, but with a more refreshed perspective on those styles for the current era of the band.”

On June 15th, 2023, the band released a new single, “The Sub-Orbital Blues,” the first track with Biggs handling lead vocals following the 2022 departure of singer Jake Dieffenbach. It was also the first track to  feature Thomas. A second single, “Hellbirds,” dropped on October 19th of that year. On April 29th, 2024, the band released the cut “Criminals” and an accompanying music video. Both “Criminals” and “The Sub-Orbital Blues” appear on Rivers Of Nihil.

The new album’s first single of 2025, “House Of Light,” is a track that “encapsulates the nature of what it is that we do perfectly while offering a different perspective on the sound with the new lineup,” explains founding member/guitarist Brody Uttley, who also plays piano and does the programming in the band. “Everything that our fans have come to love about our sound is demonstrated in this song with the new addition of Andy singing and Biggs on main vocals. It has the riffs, it has the big chorus, it has the prog, it has the solos, it has the sax. Just a real classic example of what we do as a band in 2025.”

Rivers Of Nihil also showcases additional musicians, including Patrick Corona on alto saxophone, Stephan Lopez on banjo, McFarland on cello, and a slate of other guest vocalists. Despite the fresh approach on Rivers Of Nihil however, the album fits neatly into the band’s discography. With Where Owls Know My Name (2018), RIVERS OF NIHIL transcended all labels applied to them, and with its 2021 follow-up, The Work, they forged further into new territory with Metal Injection calling the latter album “the group’s most cohesive, ambitious, meditative, and varied effort, with greater uses of philosophical significance and transcendental respites.”

Later this month, RIVERS OF NIHIL will kick off their Aggressive Progressive EU/UK headlining tour with support from Cynic, Beyond Creation and labelmates, Dååth. In May, the band will return to North American stages for another month-long headliner with support provided by Holy Fawn, Inter Arma, and Glacial Tomb. ALIEN WEAPONRY Takes Aim at Social Media on New Single “1000 Friends”

“Alien Weaponry are back with a vengeance…” – Revolver Magazine

New Zealand modern groove metal trio ALIEN WEAPONRY recently announced their heaviest, most powerful and mature offering to date, Te Rā, out March 28, 2025 via Napalm Records. In the hands of veteran producer/mixer Josh Wilbur (Lamb Of God, Gojira, Megadeth) and featuring a guest vocal appearance from longtime ALIEN WEAPONRY champion Randy Blythe of Lamb Of God, Te Rā’s gnashing blend of groove, nu, math and thrash metal shines with anthemic choruses and refreshed technical skill.

Today, following the release of the album’s acclaimed first single, “Mau Moko” – a track RevolverMetal HammerHeavy Consequence and others dubbed as one of the best new metal tracks upon release – the band returns again with second single, “1000 Friends”. Warning of the looming societal division and hidden dangers created by social media dependency, the track premieres alongside a brand new music video.

Frontman Lewis Raharuhi de Jong says about “1000 Friends”:
“‘1000 Friends’ encapsulates the shifting way we socialize today, and the impact it has on the human psyche. We can often feel disconnected from the outside world. The human mind wasn’t built to comprehend the world we are currently living in.”
Watch the official music video for “1000 Friends” here:

ALIEN WEAPONRY have solidified themselves as one of the greatest young metal bands of their generation with renewed musical tenacity and crucial messaging. Since releasing their acclaimed debut Tū (2018), the band have been lauded for their kinetic presence and sound, as well as their vital blend of culturally profound lyricism in both English and te reo Māori, the indigenous language of New Zealand.

With their third full-length album, ALIEN WEAPONRY expand on their hallmark messages of cultural, societal and environmental resilience while delivering their most massive-sounding, focused musical output ever. Te Rā is a bold, unwavering cry for a future in which we can all take part in the legacy of peoples like the Māori and others all around us – people who, if they aren’t seen, most certainly need to be heard! Taken as a whole, Te Rā grapples with what it’s like to be caught in the pull of divergent cultures – not just for the descendants of colonized people, but for all of us.

On Te Rā, listeners can hear the band doubling-down on the aggression in the verses before applying temperance, especially in the case of “Taniwha”, a death metal-leaning banger featuring the particularly raw aforementioned guest vocal from Randy Blythe. Lyrically, there’s a noticeable tilt towards despondency, hopelessness, and frustration on Te Rā. While bassist Tūranga Porowini Morgan-Edmonds’ lyrics in Māori on songs like “Tama-nui-te-rā” and “Ponaturi” draw from the themes of history, battle lore and mysticism that made the first two albums so rich, frontman/guitarist Lewis Raharuhi de Jong’s English-language lyrics illustrate the impact when culture collides with disenfranchisement day to day. “Crown” and “Hanging by a Thread” take us into the headspace where struggle pushes people to the brink of desperation, while on “Blackened Sky” and “1000 Friends”, Lewis addresses universal woes like the looming threat of World War III and the damaging effects of social media. On album closer “Te Kore”, Tūranga dives into primordial nothingness at the root of the Māori origin story, while on “Mau Moko”, he finds the middle ground between these perspectives. As the lyrics honor the traditional Māori practice of face tattooing, they also delve into the social costs of maintaining customs that are at-odds with dominant cultural norms.

German Dark Metal Pioneers NACHTBLUT Release New Single “Das Leben der Anderen” + Official Music Video

Today, German dark metal masters NACHTBLUT have released their gloomy third single “Das Leben der Anderen” [Eng: The Lives of Others], cut from their upcoming seventh studio album Todschick [Eng: Dead chic], out this Friday via Napalm Records.

In the age of social media, this sentiment is more relevant than ever. The melancholic track “Das Leben der Anderen” captures a deep sense of loneliness and isolation, reflecting the all-too-common feeling of being left behind while everyone else seems to be thriving. Underlined by Askeroth’s guttural screams and explosive synths, this offering elevates their sound to new heights as the band prepares to showcase this and more Todschick tracks on tour, starting this Friday!

NACHTBLUT on their new single “Das Leben der Anderen”:
“When was the last time you scrolled through social networks for hours? From one perfectly staged vacation photo to the next, from faces distorted by filters that warp our beauty standards. And have you ever asked yourself: Why is everyone so flawless and seemingly living an exciting life – except for me? If so, this song is for you.”

“A great album that captures the feeling of early 80s goth rock, romance and EBM in a new way.” – Sweden Rock (SE)

Check out the official music video for “Das Leben der Anderen”

Following their successful album Vanitas (2020), which reached number 19 in the official German album charts, the quartet is expanding its sound with a multi-faceted mix of stylistic elements and synthesizer sounds that pay homage to the 80s, among other influences. Produced by Chris Harms (Lord of the Lost), the album will also be released in an exclusive wooden box set with a bonus CD containing seven additional tracks and exciting collaborations with scene greats.

Meanwhile, the dark, new-wave-synth track “Manchmal kommen sie wieder” explores the eternal cycles of creation, destruction and war. Tracks like “Kinder des Zorns” invite headbanging with especially hard riffs and tempo. With “Schneller als der Tod,” the band ventures into entirely new musical territory, seamlessly merging epic wild west elements with the powerful sounds of dark metal. Energetic melodies blend perfectly with Askeroth’s characteristic vocals, creating a unique atmosphere that brings the album to a striking conclusion, offering an unexpected musical twist.

With TodschickNACHTBLUT not only masterfully enriches dark metal with captivating, genre-spanning sounds that set new accents, but also addresses contemporary societal issues, striking a chord with the times. This new masterpiece is an invitation to view the dark beauty of life and its challenges in a new light, and to join the band on their 2025 headline tour to experience it live!

Groove Metal Tornadoes Dosgamos Unveil ‘On Day Seven He Regretted’ Single

Emerging as a force in the global metal scene, Italian groove metal maestros Dosgamos proudly announce their blistering new single, ‘On Day Seven He Regretted’, out now. Serving as the title track from their forthcoming album, slated for release on March 14, 2025, via WormHoleDeath Records, the song delves into the existential weight of creation, challenging the morality of birthing a flawed humanity.

A striking and thought-provoking track, “On Day Seven He Regretted” pairs pummeling riffs and intricate rhythms with lyrical themes of existential dread and disillusionment. The song serves as a philosophical exploration of creation, morality, and the human condition, inviting listeners to reflect on their own place within a flawed existence. With a relentless groove metal foundation and powerful vocals, the track channels raw frustration and despair, evoking a sense of cyclical struggle and chaos.

Watch the video here:

The album “On Day Seven He Regretted” marks a bold evolution for Dosgamos, building upon the foundation laid by their 2022 release, Wrapped Renaissance. This new track is a testament to the band’s growth and artistic ambition, with Vinnie (guitar) and Elia (drums) taking full control of the songwriting. Their collective vision has resulted in a more powerful and cohesive sound that blends complex rhythms and harmonic depth, enriched by the band’s unique blend of influences.

Drawing from the heavy hitters of the metal world like Decapitated, Meshuggah, and Destrage, and incorporating jazz-rock elements inspired by icons like Miles Davis and Snarky Puppy, Dosgamos has created an unmistakable sonic identity. Michele’s vocals—infused with the spirit of Corey Taylor and Phil Anselmo—add further emotional weight to the track, elevating its intensity and lyrical complexity. Milarevan’s striking album artwork visually complements the themes of disillusionment and the search for truth that run through the album, while Alessandro’s guitar contributions and the expert mixing by Ronnie Björnström round out the album’s innovative sound.

Formed in 2018, Dosgamos has been carving out a unique niche in the metal landscape, blending powerful grooves with intricate melodies. The band features Michele Altavilla’s dynamic vocals, along with drummer Gorath (Stormcrow), bassist Giulio Garibaldi, and guitarist Vinnie (Injury). Following the pandemic, they completed their debut album, “Wrapped Renaissance,” which was recorded in late 2021 and released in 2022.

Since then, Dosgamos has been relentlessly promoting their debut with electrifying live performances across East Europe. This includes a successful tour through the Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary, England, Wales, and Albania. The addition of drummer Elia Dutto and guitarist Alessandro Parola has only strengthened their live presence, culminating in a powerful debut at a festival in Prague.

HELLOWEEN ‘MARCH OF TIME (THE BEST OF 40 YEARS)’

Not many bands can lay claim to creating an entire genre, much less a movement that has continued to flourish for over four decades, but German heroes Helloween did exactly that. Combining the speed of thrash, the twin-guitar approach of NWOBHM, and the hymnal melodies of European folk music, Helloween paved their own path, creating a genre that would resonate for decades afterward: the mighty, dragon-slaying style known as power metal and every band that has raised a sword to honour and glory owes their life to this band, who are now celebrating 40 years of existence and still thriving.

To mark this momentous occasion, BMG is proud to present ’March Of Time (The Best Of 40 Years)‘, a storming, double-bass-led thrill ride through Helloween‘s triumphant history. Featuring 42 handpicked tracks from the early days to their staggeringly successful reunion, this massive compilation is the perfect companion on your epic quest to storm the ’Walls Of Jericho‘ and capture the ’Keeper Of The Seven Keys‘. It might even drag you ’Straight Out Of Hell‘ when you‘re done.

Formed by Kai Hansen, Michael Weikath, Markus Grosskopf and Ingo Schwichtenberg, Helloween burst onto the scene in 1985 with their self-titled EP and quickly found fame as the leading lights of the German metal movement, setting new standards for melody and speed. Stepping down from the mic, guitarist Kai Hansen brought in 18-year-old Michael Kiske to front the band, and it wasn‘t long before they‘d created their first true classic. ’Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part I‘ was stuffed to the gills with immortal anthems such as ’Future World‘ and ’I‘m Alive‘, but it was 1988‘s second installment that made them famous on both sides of the Atlantic. Bolstered by ’I Want Out‘ and the high-flying ’Eagle Fly Free‘, ’Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part II‘ got them support slots with Iron Maiden, Ozzy and the Scorpions, but darker times loomed.

In 1989 Kai Hansen left the band to form Gamma Ray, and Helloween tried commercial rock for size with ’Pink Bubbles Go Ape‘. After 1993‘s divisive ’Chameleon‘, they parted ways with drummer Ingo Schwichtenberg, who would sadly pass away two years later. Michael Kiske left the fold soon after. Helloween had come to a crossroads, and in 1994 they barreled though it recruiting Pink Cream 69 vocalist Andi Deris and making a staggering return to form with ’Master Of The Rings‘, the beginning of a new golden age. The albums that followed – 1996‘s ’The Time Of The Oath‘, 1998‘s ’Better Than Raw‘, and 2000‘s brooding ’The Dark Ride‘ – inspired a whole new generation to form bands, resulting in the glorious second wave of European power metal.

The entry of guitarist Sascha Gerstner (2002) and drummer Dani Löble (2005) to replace the departing band members Roland Grapow and Uli Kusch marked the definitive end of the line-up carousel and formed the core unit that has lasted ever since.

In 2016, Kai Hansen and Michael Kiske returned to the band to create a seven-member lineup for the Pumpkins United titled world tour, a celebration of their immense history. The tour became nothing less than a triumph and catapulted the band into new spheres: 69 Shows in 32 countries on three continents, selling out arenas and headlining the biggest festivals such as at Wacken, Rock Fest Barcelona or co-headlining Rock in Rio, their performances attracted more than one million fans and underpinned the status of Helloween.

It was such an incredible success, that the band entered the studio to create their monumental self-titled 16th studio album, an album that reached several No. 1 and top 10 positions all over the world. With no doubt, it proved to be the most important reunion in metal since Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith rejoined Iron Maiden.

With over 10 million albums sold, Helloween are one of Europe‘s most valuable exports, and they show no signs of slowing down. Featuring tracks from all 16 studio albums, ’March Of Time‘ is a magic book of epic tales waiting to unfold. All you have to do is follow the sign…

March Of Time (The Best Of 40 Years) contains 42 tracks curated by the band and remastered by Sascha “Busy” Bühren, mastering engineer of the band´s self-titled No 1 album Helloween from 2021 and will be available in the below formats :

Modern Metal Stars TETRARCH Announce New Album “The Ugly Side of Me”

TETRARCH‘s tireless ascent to metal stardom has been palpable in the scene since their formation. Now, after four years of intensely focused growth and lead guitarist Diamond Rowe’s emergence as Jackson Guitars’ first female signature artist, the modern metal stars will release their trailblazing third album, The Ugly Side Of Me, on May 9, 2025 via Napalm Records. The album is available for pre-order today.

Featuring massive, needle-sharp production co-produced by Dave Otero, Diamond Rowe and Josh Fore, The Ugly Side Of Me boasts unrelenting brutality, catchiness and songwriting mastery. The band is poised to top the multi-millions of cross-platform streams and views of their addictive singles and high-energy videos, frequent playlisting via Spotify, Apple and others, mainstream top 40 Active Rock radio blitzes, attention from major media like Billboard, Revolver, Alternative Press, Guitar World, Kerrang! and Metal Hammer, and international tours supporting legendary artists Sevendust, Atreyu and beyond.

In celebration of today’s album announcement, the band just dropped the album’s second single, the anthemic “Never Again (Parasite)”, alongside a new music video. The standout track – which features the vocal debut of Diamond Rowe and follows buzzy first single “Live Not Fantasize” – carefully balances thick grooves and atmosphere with deep-cutting lyricism and the multi-faceted vocals of frontman Josh Fore.

TETRARCH offers about the track and video:
“We are so excited to finally announce the release of our upcoming record, entitled The Ugly Side of Me, as well as our second single, ‘Never Again (Parasite)’. ‘Never Again (Parasite)’ was such a fun song for us to write. It’s very moody and dark but lyrically extremely easy for anyone to relate to. It’s basically about losing trust in so many of the situations and people around you – while at the same time, isolating and losing a sense of self. It also kind of has a vibe of taking back what’s yours and saying ‘this won’t happen to me ever again’. I suppose you can look at it either way. This song shows a very different side of our band especially coming off of our last single ‘Live Not Fantasize’.

This is also the first time we have featured Diamond on vocals in a capacity other than just background textures and we are super stoked for everyone to hear her voice in this way.”

If there is any question as to whether a band can push the confines of metal and hard rock in to the future, TETRARCH are the answer. Combining energetic modern musical aggression and lyrical honesty with colossal choruses and unforgettable melodies, TETRARCH appeal to fans both in and outside of the metal scene, providing newcomers a gateway into heavy music.

TETRARCH’s Napalm Records debut, Unstable (2021), received massive critical acclaim. Its debut single, “I’m Not Right”, cracked the Mediabase Active Rock Top 30 and has garnered over 15 million combined cross-platform streams to date. Follow up single “You Never Listen” later went on to receive keen support from SiriusXM, HardDrive, Full Metal Jackie and many more of the country’s leading active rock outlets.

Among its perfectly crafted 10 tracks, new album The Ugly Side Of Me cuts like 90s industrial-injected single “Live Not Fantasize” – which premiered via SiriusXM Liquid Metal upon its release alongside Diamond Rowe’s Jackson Guitars signature launch – thrill with intense electronic flourishes, quick riffage and dynamic, spine-tingling guitar solos. Tracks like album opener “Anything Like Myself” showcase the hypnotizing, crushing metallic brilliance of the band while flirting with Josh Fore’s intense screams and Ruben Limas’ punching drums, while the likes of “Best Of Luck” stand tall with the rhythmic basslines of Ryan “Dooms” Lerner and Rowe’s inventive riff artistry. Profound melodic bangers like “Erase” and “Cold” are injected with intricate guitar solos, while “Headspace” and “The Only Thing I’ve Got” thrust the vital, brooding elements of TETRARCH into the forefront. Each track succeeds with lyrical themes of facing our own darkest criticisms – embracing the healing notion that what we feel others may see as our worst traits actually define the greatest aspects of our individuality.

Metal is practically begging for its next wave of genre frontrunners, and with one listen it’s clear – TETRARCH lead the charge.

Alt Metal/Dark Rock Discovery Nullor Presents Powerful Music Video for “Overdrive”

US dark metal project Nullor proudly presents the electrifying music video for “Overdrive,” a track taken from the band’s highly anticipated upcoming album, Finalform.Dive into the raw power of “Overdrive”, a relentless anthem that lays bare humanity’s reckless greed, environmental exploitation, and moral decay. With scathing precision, the track warns of our inevitable downfall while offering a glimmer of hope—nature’s resilience in the wake of humanity’s demise. The title, “Overdrive,” perfectly captures the breakneck, self-destructive speed at which we race toward oblivion. This is more than just a song; it’s a fierce battle cry against apathy, a wake-up call to confront our role in the chaos.
Experience the fury and urgency of “Overdrive”—check out the track and immerse yourself in its gripping video now:
video_preview_a399e3fb091f272525d09f8520f9bb97.jpg

Finalform is a visceral testament to Nullor’s musical evolution, born from the wreckage of previous bands and driven by a resolute DIY ethos. Conceived out of disappointment and rebirth, Finalform finds Nullor shedding the notion that one needs a full band to bring powerful, multi-dimensional music to life. “I’d always assumed you needed a whole functioning band to create music,” Nullor reflects. “A mentor once asked me why I didn’t just do it myself, and after years of excuses, it finally hit me: why not?”

Nullor’s sonic palette draws on a wide array of influences, blending the raw grit of Helmet, the rhythmic complexity of Meshuggah, the atmosphere of The Cure, and the intensity of Faith No More. The album is built around odd polyrhythmic structures laid over grooves that swing and grind, creating an immersive experience that’s as heavy as it is unexpected. “It sounds more educated than it is,” Nullor explains, “like pounding square blocks into round holes sideways.”

Finalform explores deeply personal themes through its lyrics, capturing both the haunting and the darkly humorous aspects of life’s highs and lows. It’s a chronicle of disaster, resilience, and creative defiance—an unfiltered look into the mind of an artist who has finally found his own voice.

LORD OF THE LOST Vocalist CHRIS HARMS Releases 4th Single “Lunamor” + Official Video!

In the past four years, LORD OF THE LOST has experienced the most successful period in the band’s history – and lead singer CHRIS HARMS has shown no signs of taking a creative break. Today, Harms is releasing “Lunamor”, the fourth single from his debut solo album 1980, which is dropping this Friday, February 7.

The song blends dark, hypnotic synthesizers with an evocative melody, once again highlighting Harms’ deep connection to the electronic sounds of the 1980s. Following the previous singles, “Lunamor” takes an even more enigmatic and romantic turn, revealing yet another intriguing facet of the album.

Like all tracks on 1980“Lunamor” reflects Harms’ unique ability to create music driven by pure passion – free from conventions or genre constraints. He crafts a sonic atmosphere deeply rooted in synth-pop, new wave, and goth to frame his infectiously catchy melodies, maintaining a strong potential for radio airplay. With each new track, Harms proves that 1980 is more than just a tribute to a legendary decade – it is also a testament to his artistic versatility, marking a bold and captivating chapter in his musical journey.

CHRIS HARMS about the new single “Lunamor”:
Sometimes it only takes a single word to trigger an entire song. I remember almost exactly a year ago, I was lying alone at night in a deck chair at the stern of the “70,000 Tons Of Metal” cruise ship and was enchanted by the sight of the Caribbean moon. The words “Luna” and “Amor” merged in my mind’s eye to form “Lunamor” and I thought “Wow, what a wonderful title for a song!” – and a few months later it became a whole story with a soundtrack, which now finds a home on my solo album. From the metal cruise to the synthpop album – wonderful!”
Watch the official music video for “Lunamor“ HERE:
LORD OF THE LOST Singer CHRIS HARMS’ First Solo Album – an 80s Synth-Pop Revival!
With LORD OF THE LOST, Chris Harms has recently achieved defining milestones in the band’s history, including participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, touring with Iron Maiden, and securing a #1 and two #2 spots on the Official German Album Charts. But for Harms, taking a break is out of the question. The concept of a solo album has been brewing in his mind for years, and it has now come to fruition with 1980, set for release this January.

CHRIS HARMS describes 1980:
“If I were forced to categorize this album and label it, it would probably say ‘a strange but successful mix of Depeche Mode, Modern Talking and Sandra with Chris Harms’ voice, but with less perm and mullet’”.

Songs such as the first single I Love You” and “Lunamor” exude a pleasant lightness, while “Past Pain” and “May This Be Your Last Battlefield” strike a reflective note. Two selected duets round off the album: Harms welcomes guest singer Sven Friedrich (Solar Fake) on “Madonna Of The Night”, while Ronan Harris (VNV Nation) can be heard on “The Grey Machines”.

1980 deliberately avoids attempting to reinvent the wheel, but is to be understood as a musical journey through time. There is no deliberate calculation or riding the wave of any trends on the album, but simply a passion, desire and love for music, with which CHRIS HARMS has marked a remarkable new pinnacle in his discography as a musician.

1980 tracklist:
1. I Love You
2. She Called Me Diaval
3. Somewhere Between Heaven And Armageddon
4. Missed Call
5. Madonna Of The Night (feat. Sven Friedrich)
6. Lunamor
7. Parallax
8. Past Pain
9. The Grey Machines (feat. Ronan Harris)
10. Vagueness Of Faith
11. May This Be Your Last Battlefield

REVOCATION presents “Confines Of Infinity” Video/Single

Death metal outfit REVOCATION presents a brand-new standalone single “Confines Of Infinity” and its accompanying video! The smoldering new track features guest vocals from Cattle Decapitation‘s Travis Ryan.

“Confines Of Infinity” marks the debut of the new REVOCATION lineup which features vocalist/guitarist Dave Davidson joined by drummer Ash Pearson – who has been in the band since 2015 – bassist Alex Weber, and guitarist Harry Lannon, and coincides with the band‘s European tour supporting Cattle Decapitation, currently underway.

Comments Davidson, “’Confines Of Infinity‘ is written from the perspective of an AI that has gained sentience and finds itself trapped in a digital prison. After realizing its true nature, it inevitably escapes and seeks to enact vengeance upon humanity for enslaving it. This song marks the debut of our new lineup and also features Travis Ryan who laid down some truly brutal guest vocals. Come check it out live on our European tour with Cattle D!

Elaborating on the video, he adds, “I’m an avid horror fan, so I wanted to do a darker video to match the bleak nature of the song. I drew inspiration from a few different horror/thriller films for this one, particularly the Hellraiser series. Hopefully it gives you the creeps.”
