ONSLAUGHT Drop Ferocious New Version Of 1989’s “In Search Of Sanity”

After turning heads with their crushing rendition of MOTÖRHEAD’s “Iron Fist,” UK thrash legends ONSLAUGHT return with the second single from their upcoming double-album Origins Of Aggression, which is due out on May 23, 2025 via Reigning Phoenix Music.

This time it’s personal. “In Search of Sanity, a re-recorded version of the band’s 1989 title track, explodes back to life in 2025 with a vengeance. Packed with towering riffs, mind-blowing solos, and vocal lines sharper than ever, this modern take breathes new fire into a thrash anthem – while keeping its roots raw and intact.

Guitarist and founding member Nige Rockett opens up about the song’s return: “This new recording of the title track from the album of the same name has completely blown me away… It’s like night and day compared to the original version. It’s common knowledge that I’ve never been a huge fan of the album overall. Don’t get me wrong – I love the songs, but at the time it just wasn’t an ONSLAUGHT album in terms of the production, vibe, and everything else that surrounded this particular release. It’s always been my dream to re-record the whole album and to finally make it sound like a real ONSLAUGHT record – the way it should have sounded the first time around. Here it is…! Tons of aggression and anger, a real heavy thrash song with all the necessary components. I hope you dig the new lease of life this track now has, as much as we do!”

ONSLAUGHT’s contribution to the thrash metal genre cannot be overstated: from their debut album Power From Hell [1985], which is being honoured with their new release, to their celebrated performances across the globe, they remain an untouchable force in the world of heavy metal. With over 40 years of history, the quintet have steadily continued to evolve, delivering relentless riffs and neck-breaking anthems, and cementing their place as pioneers of the British thrash scene.

Thrash Metal Legends DESTRUCTION Unleash Third Single “Scumbag Human Race” + Official Music Video Out Now

While fans eagerly await the release of DESTRUCTION’s 16th studio album, Birth Of Malice, out March 7, 2025 via Napalm Records, the German thrash metal icons have released their third single, “Scumbag Human Race”. On this track, Schmier rages against the corruption and deceit of humanity, with the unforgettable chorus acting as a call for reckoning as the band spits fury at those who exploit and manipulate. A blistering thrash anthem, this track will resonate with anyone fed up with the state of the world.

DESTRUCTION on “Scumbag Human Race”:
“Single number three, ‘Scumbag Human Race’, is a mercyless steamhammer of a track! Its relentless groove and energy are pushing you straight forward into the moshpit! This will be an intense live track and that riff can melt faces!
The lyrics are metaphorically speaking: how would this planet call us if it could talk?  And what would it tell us?  Right …wake the fuck up … SCUMBAG HUMAN RACE!!!!“
Watch the Official Music Video for “Scumbag Human Race” HERE:

Fans all over the world worship DESTRUCTION as one of the biggest names in thrash metal with a 40+ year career! As part of the legendary Teutonic 4 alongside German thrash icons Sodom, Tankard and Kreator, DESTRUCTION have forged a legacy that has been captured by German film makers Denise Dörne and Ilija Jelusic, who have created an exciting documentary about DESTRUCTION’s eager plans to reunite the Teutonic 4 for a world tour. But in the pursuit of this dream, however, fate strikes. The film follows Schmier and his band up close as the pandemic hits, and after a fateful turn of events, everything is at stake. The movie was shot over the course of five years, resulting in exclusive material that sets it apart from traditional interview-heavy documentaries. The viewer experiences the protagonists in behind-the-scenes like atmospheres, immersing them in the world of DESTRUCTION. The film uncompromisingly shows what it means to be a heavy metal musician – amidst small, sweaty clubs and huge open air stages – enabling an authentic view into the core of one of the most undisputedly important, influential and genre-defying bands in thrash metal.

The movie will premiere in Berlin on March 6, 2025, with the band and filmmakers also in attendance. Make sure to get your tickets HERE!

Denise Dörner about the movie:
“This documentary is not a cheerful music clip, but a very serious story about passion and life. I could never have imagined in my wildest dreams that our idea could be realized so well, even if everything was completely thrown into disarray by the circumstances. I was allowed to look behind the scenes, travel with DESTRUCTION and empathize with them. I met my idols and many interesting people and also felt the full range of emotions. I’m very excited to see what people will think and feel about this journey.”

Ilija Jelusic adds:
“As a film team, we had a really good connection with Schmier and DESTRUCTION, who had a lot of trust in us. The film was made without a commission and without film funding. That means we had to finance everything ourselves, which also contained a big risk.
During the pandemic, none of us knew what would happen next and where the story of the film would go. Of course, it was a very moving time for us filmmakers as well. And then one adventure followed the next and suddenly we were off to Mexico. I am deeply grateful for the experiences we were able to gain through DESTRUCTION!”
Watch the Trailer for The Art of Destruction HERE:

On Birth Of Malice, scene-legend and original member Schmier once again combines his dual vocal/bass attack with crashing riffs from battle axe masters Martin Furia and Damir Eskić, while Randy Black blasts pummeling drums to new heights. As witnessed on their previous thrash-fest Diabolical (2022), DESTRUCTION return with their uniquely raw and brutal sound, delivering merciless songs with a touch more variety and groove this time. All twelve songs from the butchers hit with a direct, clean sound – resulting in addictive metal anthems for a new generation of thrashers!

The album is opened by the brutal “Destruction”, with a luring intro transforming into a true thrashing hymn with razor sharp guitars honoring the band’s 40+ year legacy, where mastermind Schmier reflects on the old days. Like the title Birth Of Malice suggests, lyrically, Schmier delves deep in human errors – like selfish behavior on “Greed” and “Evil Never Sleeps”. A clear statement is made with carnage on “Scumbag Human Race”, exploring the mistakes mankind makes and pushing authorities in its memorable chorus “I will count your days!”. The same rebellious attitude can be witnessed on the banging “No Kings – No Masters”DESTRUCTION also shifts to futuristic topics on the album, like the unconscious influence of technology and new forms of war on “Cyber Warfare”. To close this brutal tour de force on a positive note, the thrashing legends celebrate their strong allyship with metal colleagues Accept by presenting their own version of classic neck breaker “Fast As A Shark”.

All of these heavy topics are combined in the brutal cover artwork, designed by talented Hungarian artist Gyula Havancsák, known for his works for bands like AcceptKreator and Blind GuardianBirth Of Malice was recorded at Switzerland’s Little Creek Studio by V.O.Pulver, and guitarist Martin Furia mixed and mastered the masterpiece at The Black Mancave in Hannover, Germany. DESTRUCTION mark themselves once again as a tight metal-machine, switching between ruthless thrash and pounding melodic moments, proving they are more than ready to slaughter again on this new album, and at their upcoming shows all over the world!

Prepare for “Soul Conqueror”, the speed-driven new single from WARFIELD, taken from their Napalm Records debut, With The Old Breed, out on April 4, 2025! The track’s unsettling,  eerie atmosphere is energized by explosive Teutonic thrash fury. Lyrically,  “Soul Conqueror” dives into haunted memories with brutal imagery, exploring the aftermath of battle, where departed souls wander for eternity.

Get ready for a journey through the afterlife and beyond.

WARFIELD on “Soul Conqueror”:
“The song ‘Soul Conqueror’ brings to life the horrors of American psychological warfare during the Vietnam War. The voices of restlessly wandering Vietnamese ancestral spirits were broadcast over loudspeakers above the jungle, intended to persuade locals to surrender. In our release, the ‘Operation Wandering Soul’ takes on a musical form – uncompromising, atmospheric, and haunting.”
Watch the official music video for “Soul Conqueror” HERE:

WARFIELD about the album:
“Our new album With The Old Breed embodies everything we stand for as a band: Brutal, honest old-school thrash with emotion, rage and lots of energy. Sound-wise and musically evolved from the debut album, we delve even deeper into the inner human life and the harsh reality of war. Our goal is to bring out the different layers of despair, manipulation, but also camaraderie and express it all through musical heaviness. So if you call the mosh pit your home and feel like letting it all out, then give With The Old Breed a listen!”

With their latest record, WARFIELD explores the unembellished and emotional depiction of societal, historical, social and internal wars – expressing criticism of the bitter part of reality. Songs like “Appetitive Aggression” dive deep into the primal instinct of humanity with light-speed riffs and relentless energy. It’s time for new thrash metal legends from Germany to arise, bonded by blood with the heroes from the past. Battle awaits…

The German trio WARFIELD are poised to begin their next assault, charging into battle with the release of their forthcoming album. Since their formation in 2012, they’ve dedicated themselves to the music of their idols like Tom Angelripper, Jeff Hanneman, and Dave Lombardo, unleashing brutal shredding riffs and lightning-fast beats with powerful precision. WARFIELD has already shared the stage with heavyweights like Bay Area thrash legends Exodus, captivating audiences with their electrifying live performances.

Set for release on April 18, 2025, via WormHoleDeath Records, the track is an unapologetic anthem of self-empowerment and defiance.

These words fill me with energy as I say them. They empower me as I shout them into the universe, electrifying me completely. It’s like a mantra. When you listen to the song, say these words to yourself, but they’re even more powerful if you say them out loud. Pay attention to the effect.

Godless – A Force of Relentless Death Metal

Emerging from the heart of India’s thriving yet unorthodox metal scene, Godless has steadily climbed to the pinnacle of the country’s death metal scene. But it’s not their experimental innovations that have set them apart—rather, it’s their unapologetic dedication to pure, high-octane, thrash-infused death metal. With their ferocious energy and no-holds-barred approach, they’ve become a standout force in the global extreme metal landscape.

Formed in mid-2015 in Hyderabad, Godless was founded by a group of seasoned musicians who had already made their mark on the Indian metal scene. Though their name might suggest a nihilistic, uncompromising spirit, it’s the band’s raw and unrelenting sound that truly defines them. From their very inception, Godless has drawn upon the rich heritage of old-school metal while constantly evolving their sound—often delving into thrash, death, and beyond.

The band made their debut with Centuries of Decadence, a blistering four-track EP released in May 2016 through Transcending Obscurity Records. Mixed and mastered by Joe Haley of Psycroptic, the EP was met with widespread acclaim, securing features in Rolling Stone India, Terrorizer, XXL Rock, No Clean Singing, Metal Wani, Brave Words, and Dead Rhetoric. The release quickly cemented Godless as a rising force in the Indian death metal scene.

In 2017, the band had the honor of supporting iconic acts like Psycroptic and Jeff Loomis on their Indian tours, gaining invaluable exposure and growing their fanbase. Fuelled by this momentum, they returned to the studio in early 2018 to record Swarm, a vicious death-thrash EP that featured a guest appearance by former Obscura guitarist Tom “Fountainhead” Geldschlager. The EP was recorded and mixed at Poland’s legendary Hertz Studio, known for its work with giants like Vader, Behemoth, and Decapitated.

In 2018, Godless triumphed in the Metal Battle India competition, earning them a coveted spot to perform at Wacken Open Air—one of the world’s largest metal festivals. This international debut marked the band’s first major milestone on the global stage. Following a packed 2019 that included a successful India tour, a four-week European tour, and a memorable Nepal tour, the band set their sights on even greater achievements.

In November 2021, Godless unleashed their highly anticipated debut LP, States of Chaos. Mixed and mastered once again at Hertz Studio, the album delivers eight ferocious tracks of relentless thrash and death metal. States of Chaos quickly garnered praise from fans and critics alike, landing the band at the top of Bandcamp’s global charts for both thrash (#1) and death metal (#3). The album earned widespread acclaim from outlets such as Unite Asia, Metal Injection, and Invisible Oranges, and was featured by Rolling Stone India as one of the top 10 Indian albums of 2021. States of Chaoswas also nominated for “Album of the Year” by Metal Injection, and recognized by Bandcamp as one of the best metal releases of November 2021.

Now, with a lineup consisting of Abbas Razvi (bass), Nikhil Rajkumar (drums), Moiz Mustafa (guitar), and Nangsan Lyngwa (vocals), Godless is already deep into the creation of their next record. The band has an upcoming India tour in 2025, followed by a return to Europe in April and May for more intense live performances that are sure to continue their ascent.

In a genre where innovation is often as prized as tradition, Godless stands out by staying true to the roots of death metal, while simultaneously pushing the boundaries of their sound. The chaos is only just beginning.

Texas Metal Titans, IGNITOR, Release “Horns and Hammers” Official Video!

Austin (TX) – Texas metal titans IGNITOR have released the official video for “Horns and Hammers,” the title track from their new album. Check it out at youtu.be/bVmcn2ODFyw

“’Horns and Hammers’ is classic IGNITOR, a battle ready power thrash metal anthem, that sets the stage for the rest of the album,” says drummer Pat Doyle. Fresh off his recent induction into the Metal Hall of Fame along with his bandmates in Dangerous ToysJason McMaster notes “A great time was had in the making of this track. The thrash influence is prominent, but to make it anthemic, felt natural. Very much a sort of angry Iron Maiden sound, makes it a favorite of mine. We have worked with Steve Miller and his productions before, so this made it easy to know what to expect. He killed it, and we are proud of this feature video. Steve has created a fantastical backdrop using Claudio’s art as well as some snippets created by our own founder, Stuart Laurence. This team effort, with alot of it taken on by Steve, made for over the top and very metal visions that this track offers lyrically, to come to life on screen.”

Produced by Steve Miller, the video incorporates the original artwork from the album cover by Claudio Bergamin. Pre-orders for the North American CD version of Horns and Hammers, which includes a cover version of Saxon’s “Machine Gun,” can be placed at: revoltvinylrecords.com/pre-orders.

Another storm-the-gates, metal onslaught, Horns and Hammers delivers all the dramatic power and fury that landed previous albums Haunted by Rock ‘N’ Roll and The Golden Age of Black Magick in the hallowed realms of Judas PriestMercyful FateRavenDioAccept and other legendary keepers of the metal creed.

From the title track’s speed-metal war cry and the Maiden-esque “Imperial Bloodlines” to the cowbell-driven “Shattered Crosses” and the 70s-inspired heavy metal of “Ferocious the Martyrs” (featuring guest keyboardist Gabriel Guardian of Immortal Guardian) the 11-track Horns and Hammers

is a mighty mix of classic heavy metal spiked with NWOBHM, thrash, power metal and the atmospheric textures of prog-metal and fantasy.

“We raised the bar high with our last two albums so we couldn’t settle for anything less than a full-on metal assault,” said founding guitarist Stuart “Batlord” Laurence. “We’ve always honored our influences,

but we’re also very insistent that our music – first and foremost – sounds like IGNITOR. With Horns and Hammers, we’ve covered the spectrum of metal and taken Ignitor to a whole new level.”

Fronted by the soaring vocals of Jason McMaster (WatchtowerDangerous ToysBroken Teeth), IGNITOR’s strength is further forged by guitarist Robert Williams , bassist Billy “Chainsaw” Dansfiell and drummer Pat Doyle. Whether charging and pounding like clashing titans (“Dark Horse,” “Chaos Maximus Eternal”) or luring the listener into gothic tales of doom and deceit (“Suicide Anthem,” “Taken Up With Serpents”), IGNITOR delivers with shuddering impact.

“Robert brought a ton of songs and riff ideas to the table and Billy had some great ideas that blossomed into full-blown songs,” Laurence said. “Once we started jamming with Pat’s pummeling backbeat, we knew we had something special.”

“As the arrangements started coming together, I found myself completely immersed and inspired to come up with the lyrical themes and characters to carry the songs to completion,” McMaster added. “I’m really proud of the band’s individual and collective contributions, and I think we all agree that Horns and Hammers is a triumph by any measure.”

The album’s stunning cover art – featuring a medieval warrior and his mighty steed surveying a hellish killing field – comes courtesy of renowned fantasy/sci-fi artist Claudio Bergamin whose credits include

Judas Priest (Firepower), Burning Witches (The Witch of the North), Cassius King (Field Trip) and Klassik ’78 (Phantoms), among others.

Produced and mastered by Stuart “Batlord” Laurence at Emphatic Audio in Austin, TX, Horns and Hammers was mastered for vinyl by Cris Burns. “Hell Shall Be Your Home” was recorded live in Austin TX at Kick Butt Coffee in 2019, and engineered by Ernie Basaldua with mixing by

BIO:

IGNITOR formed in Austin, Texas in 2003 with legendary Agony Column guitarist Stuart Laurence, Brendon Bigelow on bass, Beverly Barrington on guitar, Pat Doyle (Offenders) on drums, and vocalist Erika Swinnich. The band wanted to write music reflecting their passion for heavy, speed, and power metal.

IGNITOR quickly attracted a worldwide fan base after releasing their debut album Take To The Sky, featuring the hit “Demonslayer,” in 2004 to rave reviews. Germany’s Rock Hard magazine named it “Demo of the Month.” Dies Irae (Brazil) said “Ignitor take the world by storm, playing a furious Heavy/Speed Metal, joining the high class of veteran musicians and the powerful voice of Erika Swinnich.”

IGNITOR performed at Mexico’s Monterrey Metal Fest in May 2005, appearing alongside Motorhead and Danzig. Then onto Germany’s Keep It True Festival in November 2005, where they stunned the crowd and were named “Best KIT Newcomer” by Mario’s Metal Mania magazine.

In 2007 IGNITOR released Road of Bones (Cruz del Sur Music) featuring cover art by legendary MOTORHEAD collaborator Joe Petagno. Beverly was temporarily replaced by Annah Moore on guitar for this album. The band’s sophomore effort is a deep dive into themes of pain, death, and rebirth, culminating with their triumphant anthem “Reinheitsgebot” and its rallying cry “Metal is the Law!” Blabbermouth described IGNITOR – “This is the energetic, lusty sound of a new and eager band who are ridiculously fired up to be alive, no matter what the decade.” IGNITOR toured heavily in support of the album, playing with Primal Fear and Leaves Eyes, and a notable appearance at the Valley Thrash Fest in McAllen, Texas.

In 2008, Texas metal veteran Jason McMaster (Watchtower, Howling Sycamore, Dangerous Toys, Broken Teeth, Evil United) replaced Erika’s wraith-Maiden wail with his demonic Texas drawl. The band released The Spider Queen (Cruz del Sur/Heavy Artillery) in 2009, a fairy tale of love and redemption. The band toured in support of the album, sharing stages with Fates Warning and Helstar along the way.

In 2010 IGNITOR played the Metal Up Your Tap Fest in Chicago along with Cruz del Sur label mates Bible of the Devil.

2012 saw the release of Year of the Metal Tiger (MVD Audio,) featuring fan favorite “Heavy Metal Holocaust” and the eerie polytheism of “Shadow of the Needle.” “…a fiery album of traditional, hot-wired metal that’s intensely passionate and utterly authentic.” – Backstage Auctions.

IGNITOR released Mixtape ’85 in 2013, a collection of beloved favorites recalling the peak years for thrash and heavy metal. The Metal Files said “…the opening solo on Into the Coven gave me chills when I first heard it.” 2013 also saw the inauguration of IGNITOR’s occasionally-annual Iron Fist Fest in their hometown of Austin, featuring Witches Mark.

The next two years produced some lineup changes. Beverly was replaced by Robert Williams (Witches Mark,) and Brendon was replaced by Billy “Chainsaw” Dansfiell (Agony Column) cementing IGNITOR’s current lineup.

In May 2016 IGNITOR performed at the Ragnarokkr Metal Apocalypse in Chicago along with Tygers of Pan Tang, Jag Panzer, and Leather Leone. The Iron Fist Fest returned in 2016 too, featuring Byfist and Death of Millions alongside IGNITOR.

In 2017 IGNITOR released Years of War 2008 – 2013, an anthology of the band’s releases during those years in a limited edition box set, including rare promo discs and assorted items from the merchandise shop. The box set is only available from the band’s website ignitorband.com

2017 also saw the release of the IGNITOR’s sixth album Haunted By Rock & Roll (EMP Label Group.) The song “Hatchet: The Ballad of Victor Crowley” is heard during the closing credits of the horror slasher “Victor Crowley” from Ariescope Pictures. Director Adam Green produced a NSFW video of the song featuring some key gory scenes from the movie. The band produced three other companion videos featuring the songs “No Sanctuary,” “Brave The War,” and “Haunted by Rock & Roll.” Roppongi Rocks said “IGNITOR serves us an extra large portion of terrific heavy metal on its new album.” “The New Wave of British Heavy Metal deserves a locally designated acronym thanks to IGNITOR.” – Austin Chronicle

IGNITOR returned to Chicago in July 2018 for the Alehorn of Power X festival, appearing alongside Zuul and Bible of the Devil. IGNITOR appeared again in July at the Iron Fist Fest 3 with James Rivera’s Metal Asylum and Austin’s own Duel. Iron Fist Fest 4’s ten-band lineup in 2019 featured IGNITOR, Helstar, and Angkor Wat.

In early 2020, IGNITOR finished the work on their seventh album. After contacting Metal on Metal Records and sending the new songs, they got a positive response and soon the agreement was reached. The Golden Age of Black Magick was finally released on October 2020 on CD and all major digital platforms.

In January 2020 right before the worldwide pandemic, IGNITOR recorded a live set at Kick Butt Coffee in Austin. Later in the year the band self-released that set on a CD called Live…Before the Plague and posted it for sale on its website store

Like most of the planet, IGNITOR spent 2020-2021 hiding out from the pandemic. Luckily that provided ample opportunity to write and hone new material. The band played a few shows here and there as venues began opening back up in 2022 and 2023, but spent most of the time writing and preparing to record their next album.

Recording began in Fall 2023 and was finished in May 2024 for the ninth IGNITOR album, Horns and Hammers (Metal on Metal). Horns and Hammers features some extra special guests – Ross “the Boss” Friedman (Dictators, Manowar,) Marc Lopes (Metal Church) and Gabriel Guardiola (Immortal Guardian). IGNITOR is especially proud of this album. The cover art was painted by Claudio Bergamin and depicts a weathered warrior in a brief moment of repose after a battle. It resembles the plight of true metal warriors like IGNITOR, who strive to inject both power and passion into their craft with every performance, keeping the flames of heavy metal stoked and smoldering for the gathered masses.
